Friday

Dwight K Shrute's phone

On the office last night, Dwight had a wanted poster for the flasher. It had a phone number on it, Ani and I rewound the DVR like 15 times until we were able to get it.

So once we got the number (800)-984-3672, I started dialing. Busy Busy busy. So after Scrubs was over we were able to get through and it did not disappoint. It is really like that book I read last year "Cathy's Book" which also had interactive phone numbers and what not. What is nice about it was it was totally realistic, there was no ad for NBC, or anything like that.

I woke up super early this morning and I went on the bike, and was able to watch this show called "Mets Fast Forward" on SNY and it shows last nights game in an hour. All the highlights not much of the fluff. Perfect for your workout.

Monday

I just got a call from New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. Perhaps he should worry more about getting swept by the Red Sox or his team mate A-Rod getting rub downs by Biff Henderson, than if I can listen to the Mets in Alabama.

Can I say that its almost too warm outside?

On a unseasonably cold day on Friday DPW had our first game of the season. I played first base in our disputed 6-5 loss to the Writers Guild of America East. I made solid contact in both of my at-bats, both times I hit it up the middle. The first at-bat I lined a hard single that drove in a run, the next time I popped up to center with the bases loaded -it was on ball four. We have a game on Friday, I am hopping for a better outcome for me and the team.

What happens to old web space

Ani was bored the other day ... it was rainy and we didn't go out at all ... and she was just looking up stuff online and she found out who now owns my old web space Niel-xxx.com . And of course its porn.

It sucks that the Mets have been rained out two days in a row, kind of takes the wind of the sails. Also the fact that its 45 degrees doesn't make me think of baseball.

Speaking of that tomorrow is opening day for DPW softball. Yeah nothing is more exciting than the prospect of playing softball as the tempretaures approach the low 40s.

Friday

I was visiting Mets.com and they had these pictures of Alyssa Milano in Mets gear. So I had to follow up. Apparently she has this new line of clothes for the ladies for major league baseball teams.

MMMMM I've always liked the Alyssa Milano. I think we all knew who was the boss. So as they say a picture is worth 1000 words, enjoy these two thousand words. I'm sure at least one of those words is yum.

And yes Mike you can see her in Yankees gear as well.

Thursday

Kurt Vonnegut

When I woke up this morning, I am wondering if the Mets made a miraculous comeback. I fell asleep before the game ended. I was exhausted from a long day of work and some time at the batting cage. Then Ani tells me that Kurt Vonnegut had died.

I had started reading Vonnegut's books when I was older. I borrowed a book from the library "God Bless You Dr. Kevorkian". I loved his easy style and subversive humor. The last book of his I read was "fates worse than death" an autobiography written as a series of short stories.

If you want to read a great book may I recommend "Blue Beard" its not one of Vonnegut's most known books, but is one of my favorites.

But I guess you can't go wrong with Slaughterhouse 5 or Cat's Cradle.

I know that Kurt is up in heaven looking down on us today, and smiling. That was one of his favorite jokes.

Magic Numebr

After the first day of the baseball season the Mets magic number to clinch the East is 161. So any combination of Mets wins or Phillies/Nationals losses and we're right back in October!

How to Bear-Proof your home

Isn’t it weird that when you are preparing to bring a baby home, you start baby proofing your house. It seems like the wrong choice of words. If I “bear-proof” my home, I’m not making it a safe a comfortable place for bears. I can’t think of a better word though.

I like writing on the train. The noise helps me zone out and write.

This morning I read on the Mets message board that they are only selling tickets to Opening day and the subway series games via a lottery or with a ticket plan. Was shut out of such a lottery last season for the playoffs. This is so fucked up … yes I applied for the lottery.
As shitty as it was, waiting in the freezing cold for tickets last year. It seems much more fun to me than this bogus lottery. I guess I’m following the game on yahoo. Lame. Unless I win the mega millions lottery, with people at work, and I buy season tickets.

I’d like to take more pictures. I really enjoy it and our new camera takes good photos.

What the fuck is up with that woman astronaut. Trying to kidnap and murder a rival in a weird love triangle with another astronaut. My favorite part of the story is she drove like 9 hours (or was it 900 miles) and she wore Depends so she wouldn’t have to make any pit stops. Nice.

Sunday

We are finally up to date on Battlestar Galactica, its going to suck to have to wait a whole week before the next episode. But alas.

We made some kick-ass wings on Saturday for lunch. They came out perfect. And what goes better with wings than beer. Red Stripe HOOORAY BEER!

Ani and I went out to dinner with my Mom on Saturday to the Spanish restaurant on Myrtle avenue. For a place that had been such a dump, they really fixed it up nicely. What is neat the owner must have some baseball connection, because there are tons of pictures of him with major leaguers. Highlights include, Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes and Luis Alicia (the Spanish language voice of the New York Mets). There are also some pictures with Yankees, including a very frightened looking Brian Cashman.

I still have a post "in the can". If the snow picks up and we can't get to work tomorrow, I'll post it early. If not after work.

The new Apple iPhone is awesome. I so don't need one, but i so want one!

I bought some wool socks for camping (at the urging form the book "A Scouts Honor"). I also packed my pack for a trip in two weeks. What the fuck? I'm trying to lessen my carrying load. I only need to put in my eating things and I'm done.

Hall of Fame indeed

How can I feel that the Baseball Hall of Fame or its voters (the baseball writers association of America) are legitimate when two of its members voted for this ingrate. Bobby Bonilla for induction into the hall of fame.

This piece of shit shouldn't be allowed within 10 miles of Cooperstown. And if he were allowed within city limits, he shouldn't be allowed into the HOF without a full priced ticket!
