Wherever I Wind Up

One of the things about being a stay at home parent is you don't have an over abundance of "me" time. And two things that I really enjoy that have taken a hit with me are reading and writing. Which if you know me are really my bread and butter.  I have been pushing hard for writing and editing gigs and writing for the NYC Dads group blog, but I have been very negligent with this blog. So, I know I have said it before but I am making a re-commitment to Great Moments in Bad Parenting*.

As far as reading, really who has the time if you don't commute somewhere, right? Recently I replace my old e-reader that Mrs. GMIBP had been using, after I may have over charged it and fried the circuit, with a Nook Simple Touch for each of us. I know that she will get way more use out of it than I will, but if I take time that would be spent watching TV or roaming  Facebook to read I can get back into the swing of things.

I need to note that my OCD kicked in and I tried to re-format something in this post and now my review is in a weird font. I'm not internet shouting.

THE FIRST BOOK I READ WAS WHEREVER I WIND UP BY NEW YORK METS PITCHER R.A. DICKEY. IT IS A WONDERFULLY TOLD STORY OF A GUY WHO NEVER GAVE UP ON HIS DREAM. THOUGH THERE WERE SEVERAL REALLY TOUGH OBSTACLES MOMENTS WHERE THE KNUCKLEBALLER ALL BUT GAVE UP, BUT HE PERCEIVED.

HE HAS REALLY EMBRACED BEING A FATHER AND HUSBAND, EVEN MORE THAN BEING JUST A BALL PLAYER.OUR JOB DOESN'T DEFINE US. I KNOW AS A METS FAN I AM VERY BIASED, BUT I LIKED THE GUY EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE, AND HE BECAME ONE OF MY FAVORITE METS AS I FOLLOWED HIS TWITTER FEED @RADICKEY43 .

IT IS A SHAME THAT HE BOOK WAS WRITTEN BEFORE HIS AMAZING 2012 SEASON. PERHAPS THE CATHARSIS OF WRITING THE BOOK, AND KNOWING HE HAD STABILITY GAVE HIM THE ABILITY TO WIN 20 GAMES AND POSSIBLY A CY YOUNG AWARD. I KNOW HIS NEXT FEW BOOK PROJECTS ARE SOME KIDS BOOKS, BUT I HOPE HE GETS TO WRITE ABOUT THE BEST SEASON A KNUCKLEBALL PITCHER HAS EVER HAD EVEN IF ITS JUST A PROLOGUE OR EXTRA CHAPTER IN THE PAPERBACK VERSION.

WEIRD FACT: BLOGGER WANTS TO CORRECT THE WORD KNUCKLEBALLER TO KNUCKLEDUSTER
