I had greatest most inspired moment of my nearly 20 years as a scouter tonight at a meeting. I was observing a board of review (as a non-voting member of course) for  a newly minted first class scout when it became totally clear. He is only missing a few merit badges for Star, both of which he has partials on. I made a calender for him when would be the earliest date he could become Star and Life. And then handed him a piece of paper that said August 2013 and said and  this is when you can become an Eagle Scout. 

It was a total moment of clarity. It was the exact right thing that this kid needed to hear and the right way for him to hear it. I can’t wait for his Eagle Court of honor in the Fall of 2013. Someone mentioned they had goosebumps.
